A so-called “office hotel” opened in the Westfjordian town Ísafjördur (pop. 4,000) last December and has quickly become a popular conference destination for companies like Glitnir and Dale Carnegie.

“We opened formally in December 2006, but didn’t start operating until January 2007. Then everything started happening and we got more traffic than we ever expected,” Office Hotel manager Pétur B. Pétursson told icelandreview.com.

The office facilities have been rented on average of six to seven times per month and about 300 guests have attended conferences at the Office Hotel since January. Pétursson said he expected the number of guests to increase further next fall and winter.
